1. What are the changes you are expecting in the society in coming twenty years?

Answer: I feel the society will change drastically in the coming years because with the           increase in  awareness among the people they are becoming more sensitive to                         the societal issues. So I think the women will become safer (though is a bit difficult but it will happen sooner or later), poverty will reduce and the living standard will improve. People will become more technology dependent.

2. Define yourself in one word.

Answer: Visionary

3. Which is your favourite animal and why?

Answer:  My favourite animal is lion because though he is so strong, he understands the importance of team work and stays in herd and hunts as a team. This shows that no matter how strong you are team work always pays.

4. Why do you write?

Answer: I write because I love it, it gives me a certain kind of pleasure while writing. Also it is a very good way of sharing thoughts and ideas with each other.

5. What’s your worst nightmare?

Answer: As such I never had such a bad dream that I can tell it nightmare, but horror movies do sometimes gives me nightmares.

6. What would you prefer havig your own child or adoption?

Answer: I would prefer having my own child.

7. What is your inspiration?

Answer: Instead of what I would prefer who. Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani is my inspiration as well as my idol.

 

8. State your life goal and the reason to choose it.

Answer: As you would have guessed from my previous answer, my life goal is to be an entrepreneur and the reason is that it gives me freedom and enjoyment. I feel being an entrepreneur gives you independence which you cannot get at any other place.

9. Which is your all-time favourite book?

Answer: Well this is a very difficult question but I will say spot the next economic bubble.

10. Which is the most disgusting fact you have come across ever?

Answer: My best friend was in a relationship with my other friend which I never expected.

11. What are your views on gender equality in India?

Answer: This is a very serious topic and I feel there is inequality amongst both the genders but I feel improvement is taking place It may be very slow but it I taking place. But this issue needs to be dealt with utmost delicacy because there is a marginal difference between gender equality and feminism and we need to move towards gender equality and not feminism.

Afterglow- A story

After reading my previous blog on afterglow one of my friends shared a story on the same topic which I liked so much that I was compelled to post. Here’s a story on afterglow but not by me. Remember that. I am just a medium.

She sat there, staring at his face. There was nothing more to come she knew. All she had with her was his memories, his afterglow.

He had told her once, “You do not pay attention to what I say right now but you are going to remember it all once I am gone.” It all came to her now. The way he made fun of her and the way she got angry every time.

Mr. Natvarlal, a professor teaching literature at an honoured university. He suffered an asthmatic attack in the middle of a lecture and was advised bed rest for a month. He loved and adored his wife, Geeta. A middle aged women working all day. She was never free, found herself some or the other work. They were a Parsi family, just husband and wife. No children.

Once when she was busy making supper in kitchen, Natvarlal called her. She entered the room and saw his face. She knew something was wrong. He choked and couldn’t breath. It was his first asthmatic attack. She struggled to get him back up. Tried to give him water but he couldn’t drink. Finally, the ambulance arrived and they were in the hospital.

Natvarlal was a romantic man. He often brought gifts for Geeta. One day they had a row and she was angry with him. When he returned, she didn’t talk. He held her hand, made her sit and sang to her, “badan pe sitare lapete hue, ohh Jane tamanaa kidhar jaa rahi ho… Zara paas aao to chain aa jaye…Zara pass aao to chain aa jaye……”. She was angry, but she could never resist this song. She loved it. And this time too she couldn’t resist a blush.

Once Geeta had a fall on the slippery terrace floor in monsoon. There was no one to cook. Natvarlal had made her omlet and toast that day. He however overcooked it a little but it tasted perfect with his secret ingredient of love. He sad on the bed by her side feeding her with his hands. They were friends first and then husband and wife. They cracked jokes and gossiped and she forgot her pain.

A tear rolled down her smiling face, when all these memories came to her. He was no more, but his afterglow did it all.

 

AFTERGLOW-RELIVE YOUR MOMENTS

A few days back I was just sitting idle and was thinking about my school picnic and there was a smile on my face after refreshing those memories. At that point of time it struck to me what was it that made me smile. It was the afterglow of that moment. Yes, my friends today whenever we are happy somewhere or the other it is the afterglow of such few moments which makes us happy. This word which I think many of you were not aware (including me) plays such an important role in our life that we cannot imagine. As per dictionary, Afterglow has two meanings:

1. good feelings remaining after a pleasurable or successful experience
2. light or radiance remaining in the sky after the sun has set

The orange sky that we see after the sun has set or is about to set is referred to as afterglow. But it is the other meaning which is important to understand and holds more importance. I believe that both the meanings are inter-connected. Just as we see the light of the sun even when it is set in the same way the glow of the happiest moments of our life is seen on our face even after the moment is passed. So Afterglow is about reliving the past moments, the precious ones which we have enjoyed the most. Today the life cannot be imagined without afterglow moments because they are the only moments on which we live our entire life. The reason we are happy, we miss others, we celebrate is because of these afterglow moments. It is one kind of memory which appears on our face which reflects the happiest moments of our life that we have already lived and we are still living them. So I hope that after reading this blog all of you will remember at least one moment of your past which will make you smile.

The reason I am writing this blog is also the afterglow of my happiest moments with one of my friends who is my inspiration to write this blog. It was this friend only who helped me write this blog, who gave me the idea to write on this subject and it was the ideas of that friend only which I have penned.

Socialism or Capitalism???

On February 29, 2016 the day budget was announced there was a debate sparked out everywhere that where are we going, towards Socialism or Capitalism?

First let’s begin by defining both of them. Socialism is that economic theory which believes that each and every means of production, distribution and exchange should be owned by the society as a whole. Put in simple words this theory advocates equality and says that all the resources are of and by the society and so should be owned equally by the society. Capitalism is that economic theory in which trade and industry is owned by the private players and is run for profit without any government intervention. Thus this economy works on the principle of free economy and says that the market will itself determine its benefit and works on the demand and supply. So this theory does not require Government intervention.

Now moving back to our original question whether this government is going towards socialism or capitalism? With the implementation of Dividend Distribution Tax (DDT) and providing rebate to the 10% slab (A income level of 2.5 to 5 lacs) and concentrating on Agriculture and rural infrastructure this may seem to be a socialistic budget. Here the question is not towards what we are moving but the question is where is it required to move. So let’s see the other side of coin. Look into history each and every country which is having capitalism (Though not complete), did it directly move to capitalism? The answer for most of them is no. What all the countries do when it comes to development is asset creation in form of infrastructure which in result empowers the rural areas and gives a boost to rural demand. In 1950s and 1960s USA was also facing the same problem i.e. majority of rural population, dependence on agriculture and unsuccessful urbanization. So did they move directly to capitalism? No, they did not. For the industries to grow two things are necessary: 1^st infrastructure and 2^nd  domestic demand. Since demand cannot be created and is market driven all the countries focussed on the infrastructure factor. After they provided what was required to the industry these countries moved to capitalism that too not complete capitalism.

Capitalism or socialism both are extreme conditions. No country can fully achieve either of them. In the short run or long run they are bound to fail. Take any country in the world and it is bound to have government regulations may be less or more, but they do have. So what mistake did India make? In 1950s when India became independent it had to decide what to do. India went for building heavy industries and made infrastructure a secondary objective. But soon India shifted its focus towards infrastructure as the public industries started running into losses. As a result, it created unemployment because the industries were not built during that time. And till date the problem is not solved and it worsened with the increase in population and as a result a situation came when India was not having funds to run the country even for a week and so it adopted LPG (Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization). So India did not see its Industrial growth. It directly moved from agriculture to services which created unemployment as there was lack of skilled labour to fit the requirement of Service sector and there were no industries which could accommodate the physical labour with the introduction of technology and lack of labour intensive industries. So looking to all this what do we require. The complete socialization was not successful as clearly evident from 1950 to 1990. We can’t afford privatization looking to the income disparity in the country. So what we require is a capitalist approach with a socialist thought. India needs an ancient economy approach of Marxism entwined with the modern day Capitalism.  Yes, it may seem weird but mixed economy with the dominance of capitalism is what I feel we require. In today’s world it is very difficult to achieve this approach but this budget is a step toward. It focuses on empowerment of youth and capacity building which in turn will create rural demand, thus satisfying both the factors required by the industry to cherish. Just we need to change our mind and consider BOP (Bottom of Pyramid) as an opportunity for growth instead of neglecting them. India will develop at a very fast pace and will definitely prove to be a beacon of stability.
